What data Voznest collects, why, who sees it, how long we keep it and how you control it.
Last updated: 2026-10-22
We don't sell your data, we don't use it for third-party advertising, and we only collect what the service needs.
What we collect
Your account
Email, username, display name, password (hashed, never readable), profile details, settings and, if you turn it on, your two-step verification secret (encrypted).
What you post
Messages, files, reactions, voice messages, stories, hubs you create or join, and your interactions with bots.
Security and devices
Your sessions (device, app version, approximate location from the IP address), security events such as sign-ins and password changes, and a key that binds each session to your device.
Usage and diagnostics
Error reports and basic performance numbers to keep the service working. They aren't used to build an advertising profile.
Voice and video in calls travel through our relay servers to reach the others; we don't record calls. Optional features, like detecting the game you're playing on Windows, only run if you turn them on.
Why we use it
- To provide the service: deliver your messages, calls and files, and keep your account working.
- To keep people safe: detect spam, abuse and attacks, review reports and enforce the Community guidelines.
- To talk to you: security alerts, answers from support and, only if you want them, summaries by email.
- To improve Voznest with aggregated, non-identifying numbers.
- To meet legal obligations.
Who can see it
- Other people see what you choose to share: your profile, and your messages where you send them.
- Hub moderators see what's posted in their hubs and the reports made there.
- Voznest staff only access personal data when their job needs it (support, safety, security), every access is logged, and they're bound by confidentiality.
- Service providers that run parts of the service for us (hosting, network and email delivery), under contract and only for that purpose.
- Authorities, only when the law requires it or to protect someone in danger.
- Apps you authorise with “Sign in with Voznest” get only the permissions shown on the consent screen; you can revoke them in Settings → Authorized apps.
How long we keep it
- Your account and content: while your account exists. Deleted messages and files are removed from the service.
- Security events and logs: for a limited time, usually up to one year, to investigate abuse and attacks.
- After you delete your account, your profile is anonymised and your sessions are closed. Some records may be kept longer when the law requires it or to stop people evading a ban.
Your rights and controls
- Access and download your data from Settings → Privacy & Safety.
- Correct your information from your profile and account settings.
- Delete your account from Settings → My account.
- Decide who can contact you and what activity others see.
- Object to or ask us to limit a use of your data, or ask any question, from Support → Privacy and your data.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Cookies and local storage
We use a cookie to keep you signed in securely and your device's storage for preferences like your theme and language. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Children
Voznest isn't for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we close it.
Security
We protect data with encryption in transit, hashed passwords, device-bound sessions, signed links for private files, access controls and audit logs. No system is perfect: if we ever have a breach that affects you, we'll tell you.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll let you know in the app or by email before the change applies.
